@mastodonmigration how do they intend to get the ip adresses of mastadon users? Threads would only interact with mastadon servers that aren't sharing thia info I hope?

@jnbhlr@toot.bike @mastodonmigration@mastodon.online I think the answer is: they never mentioned "Mastodon".

For example, AFAIK, an ActivityPub implementation is not required to store or proxy images, it could just use the original link.

In that case, Threads (and probably most ActivityPub servers) will store the IP requesting the image.

Aha good point, plain old tracking images! Block pics from Threads et al and you should be good then
