Just came back from holidays yesterday (I still had the Friday off to have a long weekend).
This has been a surprisingly productive weekend:
Humidity Sensor
The PCBs for a humidity sensor that I designed a while ago have arrived, so I was just soldering it and testing it.
This was just a learning experiment on using batteries and digital logic without a MCU, so it's a very simple thing - it just turns a LED on if it detects humidity in the ground.
The design needs some adjustments (in the picture you might notice that the actual sensor doesn't fit, so I had to improvise ), but it was good enough for what I wanted.
Print Server
Configured a Raspberry Pi with a CUPS server and a LCD screen showing the server status, so I can reuse an HP old printer.
Seems to work as expected, but now I need to get some actual A4 paper and toners to properly test it beyond a broken test print .
If it works well, I think I'll "productize this" (move it into a Pi Zero W, making everything start on boot and printing a case). TBD.
But the idea of having a somewhat portable device that you can just stick in an old printer and you get a print server running is pretty attractive.
Concatenative Languages
I started preparing a presentation on concatenative languages for the "Paper club" at work, and ended up creating my own concat language while doing that.
It's surprisingly easy to get something simple going, and then it's just a matter of adding more operators.
$ ahlip ':hello "Hello " putstr pop putstr newline; "Fediverse!" hello' Hello Fediverse! Final Stack: [ 70.0 101.0 100.0 105.0 118.0 101.0 114.0 115.0 101.0 33.0 ] 10.0
It still needs a bit of polish, but I don't think it's too far away from ready.
