I hate it when people say something "follows a Gaussian distribution." Nothing "follows" a Gaussian. The Gaussian "follows" the real process as a modeling tool and a hypothesis.

@j2kun This can be massively generalized: nothing happens "because physics". Everything happens "because the Cosmos", physics (and the math supporting it) is an adequate tool to describe it and make sane predictions

That has a funny sound to it, I might start using that.
